Visibility is everything!
Merchandising your salon and letting people know that you sell certain products is key to your retail business
The window is the face that you present to passersby, the first impression you make with customers. Don’t overlook the potential of your display windows to grab the attention of potential customers. Aesthetics in the WEst Midlands use a sandwiche board outside of their salon to grab the attention of the passer by.
Top tips
1) Less is more
2) Make sure that you have the products that you’re advertising in stock!
3) Be creative – but keep a theme in mind
And most importantly go outside to see what your potential customers see when they walk past your salon, do you like what you see? If not your customers probably wont either!

Salons go all out to promote Breakthrough Breast Cancer this October
Salons are getting bolder and brighter this year to raise money and awareness for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Darren & Kate who own and manage Lotus Styling, West Sussex, use a local graphics company to create eye catching displays in their front window. Kate believes that the salon gets business from making the most of the merchandising, and advertising that they sell ghd’s. They use a sandwiche board outside of the salon and use striking point of sale which they personalise to grab the attention of any passes by.
Evolution salon in Castle Bromwich, West Midlands, have raised over £4000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. They have been featured in their local paper for their fundraising efforts after their assistant manager had her head shaved in aid of the charity. Doing something news worthy can lead to a greater awareness of the salon and an increase in sales.
